# The Split

Two sources, four destinations, and no leg that quietly grows.

Revenue is split the instant it arrives. Nothing waits in a wallet to be sorted out later.

## Source A — $DEFUND trading fees

Every buy and sell of the token pays a **3% fee**. It arrives in **ETH**, because that is what the token trades against.

|   Share | Goes to                                                                                               |
| ------: | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **50%** | The prize pool, through the release schedule |
| **50%** | [The Vault](https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/tokenomics/the-vault) |

## Source B — in-game spending

Offices, floor expansions, desks, staff and upgrades are all paid for in **$DEFUND**.

|   Share | Goes to                                                                                             |
| ------: | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **50%** | The prize pool                                                                                      |
| **50%** | [The Burn](https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/tokenomics/the-burn) |

{% hint style="info" %}
There is no treasury share on this side at all. Everything you spend in the game either reaches another player or is destroyed.
{% endhint %}

## Four destinations, and that is all of them

| Destination        | What happens there                                          |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **The prize pool** | Paid out to funds every round |
| **The vault** | Held in ETH, and can only top up a pool or buy $DEFUND back |
| **The burn** | Sent to an address nobody holds the keys to |

There is no fourth destination. Every unit either reaches a player, buys the token back, or is destroyed.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The in-game split is carried out by a contract, not by anyone's wallet. The percentages either side of the burn can be changed, but only through a proposal that has to sit for a set delay before it takes effect, so a split cannot move without warning.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/tokenomics/the-split.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
