# Reward Weight

The points your wallet holds at the close, with the terminal's share capped at what your office made.

Your share of the pool is worked out from your **reward weight**: the points your wallet would be holding if the cycle closed right now.

![What your wallet holds when the cycle closes](https://3552858075-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGyJ2fCw8mpbx6YAYcG8z%2Fuploads%2FyCFY64HsIPSSQ7ZzyhHC%2Ffig-16-reward-weight-v2.svg?alt=media)

That is three things added together:

| What goes in | How much of it counts |
| ----------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| Points you were already holding | All of it |
| What your office paid in during the cycle | All of it |
| What the terminal made on top | Up to a ceiling |

Only the last of the three is capped.

## The ceiling on terminal winnings

**The terminal can at most double your office's output for the cycle.** If your office produced 100,000 points this hour, the terminal can add at most another 100,000 on top. Anything above that is burned when the cycle settles.

{% hint style="info" %}
The ceiling is on your **net** terminal result, not on gross winnings. Reach it, give some back, and you can earn that ground again — banking the cap and stopping is not the play.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Losses are not capped in the other direction.** Points you lose in the terminal are gone. That is what makes the bonus round a decision rather than a formality. Your balance can never go below zero.
{% endhint %}

## Why the office sets the ceiling

The office is the game; the terminal is a bonus round on top of it. The only way to raise your ceiling is to build a better office — more terminals, better staff, more floor. One lucky run on a bare floor cannot out-earn someone who invested in the room.

{% hint style="success" %}
A starter office producing only its CEO desk makes 18,000 points in an hour, so the most that hour can end at is 36,000. That number is what you raise by building.
{% endhint %}

## You do not have to trade at all

The board pays on points held, so an office that never opens the terminal still ranks and still takes a share. Trading is how you push past what the office made on its own — up to double it, and no further.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/the-prize-pool/reward-weight.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
