# Income

The two things that produce points on their own.

Two items, and they are opposites. A terminal is cheap and needs a trader sitting at it. A quant core is expensive and needs nothing at all.

### Trading Terminal

*+1 trader seat. Each level raises what the trader at it produces by 25%*

| Detail             | Value                       |
| ------------------ | --------------------------- |
| Price              | **50,000 $DEFUND**          |
| Space it takes     | 2 × 2 cells                 |
| Max level          | 5                           |
| Cost to max it out | 672,419 $DEFUND in upgrades |

| Level | Cost of this step | Spent in total | The trader at it makes |
| :---: | --------------------------: | -------------: | ---------------------: |
| **1** | — *(you already paid this)* |         50,000 |            25 pts/tick |
| **2** |                      77,500 |        127,500 |         31.25 pts/tick |
| **3** |                     120,125 |        247,625 |          37.5 pts/tick |
| **4** |                     186,194 |        433,819 |         43.75 pts/tick |
| **5** |                     288,600 |        722,419 |            50 pts/tick |

{% hint style="info" %}
**A terminal is always one seat.** Levelling it does not add a second — only one person can stand at the open side of the desk. What a level buys is a better desk for whoever is sitting there, worth twice the output at level 5.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Who sits where is your call.** A trader is placed onto a particular terminal and keeps it. Nobody rearranges your floor for you, so a level-5 desk is only worth what the person you sat at it makes — see [Who Sits Where](https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/economy/how-production-works).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/the-catalogue/income.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
