# How Production Works

Gross output, bonuses, wages, ceiling — and who you sit at which desk.

Your output is worked out the same way every tick: **gross → bonuses → wages → ceiling.**

![How your output is worked out](https://3552858075-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGyJ2fCw8mpbx6YAYcG8z%2Fuploads%2FcBrUWZy1xfxa83ghIRj2%2Ffig-11-production.svg?alt=media)

## 1. What you produce

Your income comes from two very different places.

**Terminals only earn when they are complete.** A terminal needs someone sitting at it *and* a server slot behind it. Whichever of the three you have fewest of decides how many terminals actually run.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Three terminals with one trader earn exactly what one terminal earns.** Your next purchase should almost always be whichever of the three — terminals, staff, server slots — you have the least of.
{% endhint %}

Your office comes with **2 server slots** already, so your first terminals run before you buy any hardware at all.

**Quant cores just run.** They need no trader, no seat and no server, and add 60 points a tick for every level. That independence is what the 500,000 $DEFUND price buys you.

Your CEO desk adds its 25 on top, always.

## Who sits where

A trader is placed onto a **particular terminal** and keeps that desk until you move them. Nobody rearranges your floor for you.

That matters as soon as your desks stop being identical. A terminal's level raises what the person at it produces, and traders do not all produce the same amount — an exclusive trader makes 1.5× what an ordinary one does. So the same pieces, seated two different ways, are worth two different amounts.

| Your floor | Seating | What it makes |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------- | ---------------: |
| One level-5 desk, one level-1 desk, one exclusive trader, one ordinary | Exclusive at the level-5 desk | **115 pts/tick** |
| The same four pieces                                                   | Exclusive at the level-1 desk |     103 pts/tick |

{% hint style="success" %}
Twelve points a tick is **8,640 points an hour** for noticing something and dragging one person two squares. Put your best trader at your best desk.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
A trader whose desk you sell is left standing — they cost nothing and earn nothing until you seat them again. Two traders cannot share one terminal.
{% endhint %}

## 2. Two kinds of bonus

| Bonus       | Lifts                  | How copies stack              | Ceiling |
| ----------- | ---------------------- | ----------------------------- | ------: |
| **Systems** | Everything you produce | Straight addition             |   +150% |
| **Comfort** | What traders produce | Each extra copy is worth less | +60% |

Comfort never helps a quant core — nobody is sitting at it. And comfort works across the whole office, so a nap pod in the far corner helps every desk equally.

Legendary hires add to the systems bonus, but only the strongest one counts in full: every legend after that is worth **50%** of its printed bonus.

## 3. Wages

Wages are only paid to people **in a seat** — 5 points a tick for an ordinary trader, up to 32 for Satoshi. Staff you own but cannot seat draw nothing. Wages come off after the bonuses.

## 4. The ceiling

![Full value, then a bend](https://3552858075-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGyJ2fCw8mpbx6YAYcG8z%2Fuploads%2FEejYY3K9c7NwP9AceIry%2Ffig-12-softcap.svg?alt=media)

You are paid in full up to **250 points a tick**. Past that the curve bends toward a ceiling of **500**:

| What you produce | What you are paid |
| ---------------: | ----------------: |
|              100 |               100 |
|              250 |               250 |
|              400 |               363 |
|              600 |               438 |
|            1,000 |               488 |
|            2,000 |               500 |

A small office is never penalised for being small, and past the bend every extra desk still adds something. Nothing you buy ever counts for literally zero.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/economy/how-production-works.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
