# Caps & Guardrails

The four limits you will actually run into, and what each one is for.

Four limits shape how far an office can be pushed.

## 1. Your output ceiling

**500 points a tick** — twenty times the desk you started with. You approach it rather than hit it, and you keep gaining from every purchase on the way.

## 2. Comfort gets less useful in bulk

Each extra copy of the **same** comfort item is worth **0.6** of the one before it:

| Copies of one item | Worth |
| :----------------: | ----: |
|          1         | 1.00× |
|          2         | 1.60× |
|          3         | 1.96× |
|          4         | 2.18× |
|          5         | 2.31× |
|         10         | 2.48× |

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Variety beats quantity.** Ten different comfort items each pay in full. Ten coffee machines pay barely more than four. Upgrading a copy you already own is never wasted, though — the strongest one always counts in full.
{% endhint %}

Comfort in total is capped at **+60%**.

## 3. Systems bonuses cap out, and legends stop stacking

Systems and legendary bonuses together stop at **+150%**, so a floor of nothing but boards and screens is not a strategy.

Legends thin out sooner than that. Your best seated legend gives its full bonus; every legend after it gives **50%** of theirs. A room of five legends is worth much less than five times one.

## 4. The terminal can only double the office

Whatever your office produced during a cycle, the terminal can add at most that much again on top. Win more than that and the excess is burned when the cycle settles.

{% hint style="success" %}
This is the limit that keeps the game about building. A big office raises the ceiling on everything the terminal can add, so the desk rewards the room rather than replacing it. [Reward Weight](https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/the-prize-pool/reward-weight) works it through.
{% endhint %}

There is no ceiling in the other direction: terminal losses are not capped, and they come off the balance the prize pool pays on.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://degen-capital-1.gitbook.io/degen-capital-docs/degen-capital/economy/caps-and-guardrails.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
